Hugo Viera is a freelance choreographer based in Germany.

 

He was born in Lisbon - Portugal and trained at the National Ballet School  and at the Centre de Danse International Rosella Hightower in Cannes - France.

 

As a dancer Hugo Viera joined the National Ballet of Portugal, Ballet Braunschweig and Ballet Karlsruhe. He performed in choreographies by William Forsythe, Itzik Galili, Vasco Wellenkamp, Rui Horta, Bill T. Jones, Richard Alston, Pierre Wyss, Antonio Gomes and Olga Roriz.

 

Hugo Viera was a finalist in the International Competition for Choreographers in Hannover - Germany. He participated in the Solo-Tanz-Festival in Stuttgart - Germany, the International Arts Festival in Macau - China - with the piece "Two be me" and created "Points of You" for the Noverre Society - the young choreographers evening of the Stuttgart Ballet.

 

Hugo Viera co-directed and choreographed the opera "Triumphierende Liebe" for the Musik Tage Hannover.

 

He choreographed the Musical  "Frankenstein" and two years later "Jesus Christ Superstar" at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck - Austria.

 

He worked as assistant and ballet master for the Dance Theater of Darmstadt and for the Antonio Gomes Company (Geneva - Switzerland).

 

He has created pieces for the Ballet Karlsruhe, Ballet Braunschweig,  Hannover Opera House, Theater Ingolstadt, Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, Dancarte and Thüringen Ballet.
